Spring has sprung at VFS! and what better way to recognize Spring than by celebrating the graduation of the first batch of students from VFS’ NEW Program. The FIRST class of Programming for Games, Web, & Mobile graduated on February 26th.
The night began with commencement speeches from Dave Warfield (Head of Department for Game Design and Programming) and Peter Walsh (Senior Programming Instructor). After that the student selected speaker’s Dustin Linnington (PG01 Student) and Ash Mishra (Mobile Programming Instructor) offered some kind words as these student move on into the industry. Each speaker offered thoughts on the year that was and the future that lies ahead of these students in the Games, Web, and Mobile Industries.
The students then received their diplomas and awkwardly long hand-shakes, as a side note a special congratulations should be mentioned for Mitchell Ganton and Pedro Landaverde who both graduated with Honours! Then afterwards the party was brought upstairs so the students can show their projects and assignments to their friends, families, and loved ones. Finally the night was capped off with the VFS award show, where at the end of the year we look back on the amazing work the students and staff due, where we selects five nominees and give special awards for truly stand out work.
