If you missed the Game Design Expo this past January, there’s no need to fret. The Game Design Expo site is now featuring videos of key presentations.

Highlights include panel discussions with members of the creative team behind Halo 4, as well as a a team of representatives of the gaming industry and media discussing how indie game productions can get their product out there.

There are some great presentations by the likes of Chris Haluke (343 Industries), Patrick Plourde (Ubisoft), Alexandre Mandryka (Game Whispering), Richard Rouse III (Microsoft Game Studios) and Tuomas Pirinen (Slant Six Games).

Interview with Game Design Grad Cory Hasselbach On Halo 4

Halo 4 launched on November 6, 2012, and quickly became the number one selling game in North American, receiving great reviews, with IGN declaring it “a bar-raising triumph for the entire first-person shooter genre.”

We’re certainly proud of the many VFS grads from different departments who worked on the project, including Game Design alumni Armando Troisi (Narrative Director), who we featured recently, and Cory Hasselbach, who we are featuring today.

Cory Hasselbach graduated from VFS back in 2005, winning the award for Best Multiplayer Game (for First Light), and now works as Mission Designer for 343 Industries, the producers of Halo 4. Cory talked to us about his experience at VFS, his role as Mission Designer and what makes Halo 4 such a great game.

Halo 4 Lead Designer to Headline Game Design Expo 2013

We’re thrilled to announce our first speakers for Industry Speaker Day at Game Design Expo 2013, hosted by the one-year VFS Game Design program!

Lead Designer Chris Haluke of 343 Industries, developers of Halo 4, will be on hand to discuss his team’s innovative approach to the game’s episodic co-op campaign, Spartan Ops. For a taste, here’s Chris talking Spartan Ops and more with our friend Scott Jones of Electric Playground.
