Digital Design Projects Claim Round 1 ADAA Fame

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA) judges have announced the first round of semi-finalists for this years competition. We are proud to say that this early in the game (there are two more submission deadlines and two more sets of semi-finalists) we already have 7 projects surfacing as contenders! Based on the quality of work that the students have been producing and with an early head start like this I suspect we are going to smash our previous record of 12 semi-finalists from last year. We’ll keep you posted as the next two deadlines (April 27 and June 22nd) pass.

Our first batch of nominees includes 5 projects in the category of Motion Graphics. Amie Bennett, who graduated in December and is currently working at Bell/CTV in Toronto has three of them with The Secret Garden, and two separate submission of work she did for the TEDx Vancouver Conference. Vanessa Aldana and Andrea Garza collaborated on a title sequence last term called Calin Island, which is nominated along with Andrea’s solo title sequence The Flight.

Andrea also has a project nominated in the category of Live Action for a typography project that she did called The Art of the Process. Estefania Acuna has a branding project entitled GIG nominated in the category of Print Communications.

Prizes for ADAA finalists and winners include trips to LA to participate in the Adobe Max conference, cash, software, industry mentorship and portfolio reviews

Good luck to these students and to any other Digital Design students who plan to submit work!
