The Salazar Awards ceremony, presented by the BC Chapter of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDCBC) and Metropolitan Fine Printers, was held at the VFS Digital Design campus this past Monday night. This annual event celebrates excellence in student design work in British Columbia based on the criteria of “the quality of the design solution, the validity of the designer’s rationale for the solution, and the quality of the execution of the piece itself.”
Congratulations to recent Digital Design alumni Macarena Poo and Cesar Martinez for capturing the top prizes in the Interactive and Motion & Video categories, respectively. Both of them received a cash prize and an award certificate. Macarena won for Quins, a mobile app designed for the 2014 FIFA World Cup that allows users to predict the upcoming matches and win points based on their accuracy. This app also promotes local businesses by encouraging them to provide rewards to the users of the app.
