Game Shows in List of games SBGames and winners of the Festival

mosaico
During the games SBGames Festival finalists were available to the general public on Show Games. In addition, we also had the disclosure of winners of the festival. Below is the list of these winners of the Independent Games Festival SBGames 2013!

First, let us recall the process of choosing these winners, which is defined in the rules of the Festival this year.

Process of choosing the winners

After the initial disclosure of the festival games candidates and select finalists by judges after evaluation of the first phase, the finalists were distributed to the judges of the second phase. Each judge received in 3-6 games according to their availability and given a score of 0 (weak) to 7 (excellent) in the following aspects:

  • Technology : computational aspects including innovation;
  • Visual : innovation and quality of visuals, including 2D art, 3D art and art designed for graphical interface;
  • Sound : innovation and quality of the sound effects and soundtrack;
  • Game Design : quality and execution of the game, including the design of game mechanics, construction stages, challenge, fun factor and balancing;
  • Overall : overall work, consistency between technological resources, sound, game design and visual quality of the game as a whole.

In addition to the note, the evaluators were also able to provide an opinion on each aspect, and with it an overall opinion about the game that will be sent anonymously to each submitter. And even though it has been considered during the previous phase, the suitability of the game in relation to the definition adopted by the independent game festival was also observed by each rater.
Considering only this phase , each complete set PC / Web was assessed a minimum of 5 timesand each game in development was assessed 4 times or more . In the case of mobile games, each game is evaluated least once for each type.
Finally, in a third phase , some of the reviewers of the previous phase received a few more games (they had problems in their evaluation), thereby ensuring that all submissions were evaluated enough times and quality.
Thanks to all of our judges for their work over the past months!

During SBGames had two types of trials: an evaluation of the games other platforms and the Popular Vote . The first case was necessary because these games required some sort of interaction with special hardware needs to be evaluated properly. The popular vote was done through a computerized vote on one of the computers available during Shows Games.

Game shows

The exhibition games allow both developers and the general public knew the games of the Festival and to interact with developers. During the 3-days the event had 10 computers PC 5 5 iPads and Android tablets with virtually every game available. At various times was no queue to play the games! Some photos and video of the site shows the following. A special thanks to the staff of Baeza Events for providing infrastructure. More photos are available at: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjL1PnJi

It was very fruitful participation of the developers themselves. Many of them besides observing the players interacting with their games, also spoke together, made deals, and were available to exchange experiences during the show, receiving live feedback from your games.

Below, a moment that is priceless: Observe when your game is played!

Presentation of games

Although most of the games were available in Game Shows and some of its developers have also dedicated time to get there, the developers also had the opportunity to present their games to the participants in the SBGames Auditorium. In the presentation format free, each developer had two minutes and thirty seconds to talk about their game.

Congratulations to all the winners, participants, applicants and the general public thanks to the Festival!

A thank you also to the companies that supported the event:

Next Steps

We reached the end of the Festival this year with the certainty that it was an essential event for the dissemination and exploitation of the production of games, especially the Brazilians! For next year, the Festival is already confirmed, it will be the 12th to November 14th, 2014 at the Events Center PUCRS (Porto Alegre). See you there! Be sure, however, to participate in other national and international festivals such as IGF, IndieCade Festival Games Brazil, etc..
