Most recently, Monica was employed by Karacters Design Group as a Senior Designer for five years. Her work there included developing multi-platform branding and rebranding projects for such clients as Vancity and VANOC, for which she designed their initial creative platform. Other clients included BC Ferries, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Sun-Rype and Shoppers Drug Mart. Her work has been published and has received several awards including LotusNational Post Design Exchange AwardGood Design and ReBrand 100. She holds a BA in Graphic Design from Iberoamericana University and a Photography Diploma from Escuela Activa de Fotografia, both in Mexico City.

When asked about her new role with VFS Monica says, “I’m looking forward to working with students to help them map out a clear direction in which to take their final project. I also hope I can help keep them focused on the final goal they want to achieve, while at the same time taking advantage of what the journey itself has to offer in terms of celebrating the “small” discoveries along the way, the sort of thing that can take what was originally a good idea and transform it into something amazing. To me, great design, no matter what the medium, is not only something that looks great, but that also has depth and thought behind it.”
